Todd's Road Trip

Todd went to New Mexico last weekend for a Steel bridge and Concrete Canoe competition in Las Cruces. He had a blast. The drive was 14hrs long that was the only thing that he didn't like. These are some of the pictures he brought back.

This was Utah State's Concrete canoe

This was Todd's canoe (The University of Utah)
They had to race in a pond and then they filled up each canoe with water to see how long it would float. They took last place unfortunately :(

This was the Steel Bridge that won the competition (University of Wyoming)

This is a picture of Todd assembling his steel bridge. The rules were very strict. They were timed and they were not allowed to cross the black lines on the asphalt while assembling the bridge. Then, they put 3500lbs on the bridge to see how much it would deflect.

This is Todd assembling it while being timed

This is all of his teammates on the brige competition

this is his bridge with 3500lbs on it. They did a great job but didn't win this year.

This was very exciting for Todd they stopped at this place on the way back.

There were tons and tons of massive satelites.

You can see here how big they were. Look at the semi in comparison.

What a hunk !;)

MOAB 2010!!!!!!

Last weekend we took a vacation to Moab! It was totally awesome and super fun!!! We went down there because Todd needed to get pictures of a road and creek for his senior project in which he is to design a bridge. The place was called Entrada Ranch. We rented a jeep and had a blast. Here are a couple of photos...
This is the jeep that we rented!! It was awesome! It was a rubicon with the axle release and the sway bar. We loved it! Notice how clean it is before we start ;)

This was on our way to entrada bluffs. We followed the Colorado river..it was gorgeous!

We stopped at an old bridge called Dewey bridge. I guess it started on fire and this is the only thing left. Ryker thought it was cool...

This is the Entrada Ranch. It is the University of Utah's research ranch in the middle of nowhere!

This is the creek that Todd is supposed to design a bridge for so that cars and trucks can cross. He is doing it for his senior project.

This is the crossing in which he needs to design a bridge.

Just another view of the crossing.

After we got done with Todd's project we decided to do a little exploring of our own so we went to Gemini Bridges. This was the road to gemini bridges it was pretty good at first as you can see. However the whole time there was a cliff right on the side of the road really close!! And on top of that it was really slick because of the snow! SCARY!!-but super fun!

Notice the cliff...

Sadie had a blast! She was so good!

This was one of our pit stops on the way to Gemini Bridges. Ryker had to go pee pee. :)

This is Todd and Sadie on top of the bridges. You can't tell but there are huge cliffs on both sides of them. Totally scary!

This is the actual bridge. There are two bridges back to back, in this picture you can only see one. Look how high it is. I hate heights this kind of freaked me out a little.

This is the view from Gemini Bridges it is way high! But as you can see... super beautiful!

This was our jeep after everything was said and done! The manger of the car wash came up to us and asked us what color our jeep was. We told him it was white and he couldn't believe it! There was so much mud!!

It took for ever to get all the mud off but it was totally worth it!!!

Cabin 2010

So we have a family tradition of going to the cabin every February with the Grover's. This year was awesome! We made an awesome sled hill with Kaden, Adam, Kayla, Todd, Kyrell, and the grandkids. It was so fun and fast! Todd even made an arch at the beginning which made it even more awesome! We went snowmobiling on Adam's new awesome sled. We ate tons and tons of good food. But everyone knows that the street tacos and the homeade ice cream was the best meal of all;) We played a hilarious game called Balderdash and everyone always knew what Kyrell's and Kaden's bluffs were (well...its about this kid who);) We played in the hot tub and Adam threw snow on us while in the hot tub but then we splashed him back with water! Kaden, Kyrell and I ran in the snow and buried ourselves with snow and then went back into the hot tub. We played the game footsie-lots of fun. The boys played the shooting game on the playstation and had a lot of fun. The roof fell offf of the cabin-that was crazy! Adam and Kayla's kids got very sick and threw up all night long. Altogether it was a blast! The best part about it all was spending time with family. There is truly nothing better in life in my opinion then spending time with my family. And on this Valentines day I want to tell ALL of my family....... I LOVE YOU SO VERY MUCH!! ---I can't wait for next year's cabin adventure! :)
